If the insured member is admitted to a hospital as an inpatient following an accident or sickness, then they/their family member needs to inform the Assistance company for availing cashless treatment. They will need to reach the assistance company on the Toll-Free number available on the certificate of insurance and providing them the required details including the hospital, nature of illness, policy certificate details etc.
Insurance Company or its Assistance Service Provider shall process the request for pre-authorization from the hospital after having obtained accurate and complete information in respect of the claim. Insurance company or its Assistance Service Provider shall confirm in writing authorization (through a Guarantee of Payment (GOP)) to the hospital. If the claim is to be rejected because it is not admissible, then the rejection will be confirmed to the member accordingly.
The Assistance Services company abroad (TPA) will settled the admissible claim for the approved claim amount with the hospital after deducting any deductible / Co-Pay / Sublimit against the policy. There is no restriction on the hospital where treatment should be taken. The treatment can be taken in any hospital in the world outside India. However, the only restriction is that the hospital should be a registered hospital under the local jurisdiction.
Once the insured member is admitted for treatment, then the Assistance company needs to be informed. For a cashless claim, the Assistance Company/Insurance provider will issue an authorisation (Guarantee of Payment, GOP) to the hospital and the insured will need to pay the deductible while being discharged. For a reimbursement claim, the insured member will need to settle the bills and submit the same along with a claim form to the insurance company for reimbursement. Reimbursement will be as per policy terms and conditions.
